WIND EXPO LAWEA 2008 is the first International Wind and Renewable Energy Conference and Exposition placed in Mexico and the biggest of its type in Latin America.

Because this is the first time this event is happening and it is in a region of an abundant, not always known, alternative energy sources; the central topic of our conference will be: ”Discovering the Power of Latin American Wind”. It is our aim that the world puts its sight to this region, which has a huge untapped renewable energy potential.

Arkansas Wind Energy Conference

2008

The Arkansas Energy Office is sponsoring a day-long Arkansas Wind Energy Conference on January 17, 2008 at the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith.

Keynote speaker Larry Flowers of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory will discuss global and national trends for wind energy.
There will also be a discussion of the costs of wind-produced electricity, land leasing and financing options through private and public/private investments.

Intersession Workshop on Sustainability

2008

Renewable Energy, Food, and Sustainability will be offered January 8-10, 2008 as an Intersession Class (CHE 670) and as a noncredit workshop. Registration and supporting information may be found at:
http://www.dce.k-state.edu/conf/energy/ Sessions on January 9 focus on energy with a specific focus on Community Wind which includes conversation with landowners currently involved with projects.

Evening community workshops also offered in conjunction with the class.

Nebraska Farmer's Union Convention

The theme of this year's convention will focus on renewable energy economic opportunities for farmers, ranchers and rural communities.

Ethanol, cellulosic ethanol, biodiesel, carbon sequestration, and farmer- and community-owned wind (technology) each represent a new renewable energy based market with new sources of revenue.

In order to maximize the long-term economic benefits of these new value-added renewable energy opportunities for rural communities, the converence will focus on farmer and community ownership of this new renewable energy development.
