St. Paul, Minn. - The Minnesota Renewable Energy Society (MRES) is offering a renewable energy class, which is open to the public. MRES is a non-profit dedicated to helping Minnesotans gain knowledge of and access to renewable energy technologies.
U of CA, Davis, CA - Given over two full days, Wind Energy for Technicians provides a comprehensive, technical foundation for those currently working or considering future work in the wind industry. Instead of replacing or duplicating on-the-job training, this course augments it by focusing on core fundamentals that traditionally aren't covered, including aerodynamics, structural loads, and the engineering of power electronics and control systems. Topics such as grid integration of wind energy, environmental issues, and design of modern wind turbines will also be discussed.
Estherville, IA - Safety Solution Resources is offering 2.5-day courses at Iowa Lakes Community College to educate participants on the theory, principles and practice of fallprotection and rescue techniques applied to at-heights work onstructures common to the wind industry.
Pittsfield, MA - Lightning Technologies, Inc. (LTI) will present a professional training two-day course to provide design engineers, operators and maintenance personnel with the principles of lightning protection design for wind turbine blades, structures and electronic systems.
UPDATE The Small Wind Turbine Installation Workshop is now full, and registrations will be added to a waiting list in case of cancellations. Contact the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society for more information.
This three-day course will lead participants through all the necessary background information required to site and install a small wind turbine (up to 40 kW in capacity).
Guemes Island, WA
This workshop will guide students through the process of building a small wind turbine from scratch. Brief sessions each day on wind generator theory will be followed by shop sessions. The workshop group will construct a working wind generator.

Wind-electric systems require the most maintenance and have the most problems of any renewable electricity system. This workshop will include a brief review of basic wind-electric system design principles and practice, and then focus on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of these systems.
Due to increasing interest in renewable energy and residential-sized wind turbines, this three-day workshop is being offered to provide an opportunity to learn the ins and outs of small wind project development. The timeliness of this workshop complements the growing demand and interest in renewable energy.
The Mid-Atlantic Renewable Energy Association is offering a wind turbine installation class, July 9-12, at the Kempton Community Center.
Members of the association recently placed the foundation for the tower at the Kempton Community Recreation Center and the concrete is now curing for the July installation of a Skystream wind turbine.
"Neighbors Powering Community" is the theme of the tenth annual SolWest Renewable Energy Fair July 25-27, 2008 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in John Day, OR. Admission includes over 50 free workshops on both off-grid and grid-intertied renewable energy (RE) and sustainable living topics. A pre-fair workshop will install a grid-intertied solar backup power system.
