Times are CDT - Windustry and the Great Lakes Regional Wind Energy Institute will sponsor a free webinar on Wind Project Siting in the Great Lakes Region.
- Laurie Jodziewicz, Manager of Siting Policy, American Wind Energy Association (AWEA)
- Michael Vickerman, Executive Director, RENEW Wisconsin
Laurie Jodziewicz will discuss the basic steps and considerations from the development process through construction of a wind project. Developers need to determine which environmental features are found on the site, any potential impacts associated with the project, and the specific regulatory agencies that have jurisdiction over the project. The value of engaging an environmental professional early in the process will be considered in light of the regulatory hurdles that inevitably arise in siting a wind energy project.
Michael Vickerman of RENEW Wisconsin will discuss a new project, "Sowing the Seeds for a Bountiful Harvest: Shaping the Rules and Creating the Tools for Wisconsin's Next Generation of Wind Farms." The project will create a a one-stop online source of information for wind developers, state. A web site will include documents and links to relevant state and federal statutes and rules, facts sheets on everything from aesthetics to court decisions, zoning, and other resources, as well as a calendar of upcoming workshops, seminars, training, briefings, grant opportunities, RFPs, and other relevant events and opportunities.
