Highland Community College Training Center Opening

2009

Freeport, IL - The public is invited to celebrate the opening of the Highland Community College new Wind Turbine Technician Training Center on Wednesday, June 3 at 12:30 p.m. Festivities will include remarks by HCC President Dr. Joe M. Kanosky and EcoEnergy LLC President Shawn Gaffney. The Freeport Area Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon cutting and guests are invited to tour the new 5,500-plus-sq.-ft. facility. Refreshments will be served.

Organized by the Illinois Wind Working Group, this conference is designed to provide timely information about commercial-scale wind energy production to local government officials, the legal community and landowners.  Agenda topics include:

  • Duties of County Boards and Zoning Boards Regarding Wind Developments
  • Taxation of Wind Farms
  • Wind Opposition: Facts, Myths and Solutions

The conference will be held February 4, 2009 at the Hotel Pere Marquette in Peoria, Illinois.
