Windustry Attends Renewable Energy Roundtable with Senator Franken

On Wednesday, February 23, 2011, Windustry Executive Director Lisa Daniels and Program Analyst Dan Turner met with U.S. Senator Al Franken (D-Minn) and other notable Minnesotans including entrepreneurs, business executives, economists, and tax experts, in a roundtable panel discussion at the University of Minnesota Morris, to discuss how best to improve the federal policy environment for local renewable energy development.

Reporter Kristine Allen, with NPR affiliate WPSU, produced an in-depth feature on the Community Wind across America Mid Atlantic conference, held in State College, PA, February 8 and 9, 2011. Wind & Water Program Manager, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, U.S. Department of Energy

Jacques Beaudry-Losique was appointed in April 2010 as the Program Manager for the Wind & Water for the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). Jacques held multiple senior positions at EERE since 2005, including two years as Deputy-Assistant Secretary for Renewable Energy and three years leading major clean energy programs. Prior to DOE, Jacques has held senior executive positions for major U.S. corporations and also has many years of experience as a management consultant with McKinsey and Company. In his keynote address at the conference, Mr. Beaudry-Losique will draw from the Program’s recent studies on Deployment Barriers to Distributed Wind Energy.

(Minneapolis MN) The Appalachian Regional Commission is sponsoring Scholarships for the Community Wind Across America Mid Atlantic Conference in State College, Pennsylvania, February 8-9, 2011.
The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) is a federal-state partnership that works for sustainable, community and economic development in Appalachia. These scholarships are intended to encourage a broad participation from the Appalachian region.
