Times are EDT - The second of the 2010-2011 ABA-ACORE Webinar Series will explore issues that offshore wind developers, as well as companies providing engineering, construction, and related services in the renewable energy space, face in the context of state and federal regulatory regimes.
Experts on this panel have experience with various types of renewable energy sources and renewable energy projects that have been sited on government property, both onshore and offshore.
Panelists will (i) explore how the leasing and permitting process for offshore wind projects in the Atlantic Ocean differ from those for projects in the Great Lakes, (ii) use Ohio and its experience with offshore wind development in Lake Erie as the basis for discussing submerged lease regimes, ocean zoning, and other federal and state regulatory regimes for renewable energy projects, (iii) address the role that the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation, and Enforcement ("BOEMRE," formerly the Department of Interior's Minerals Management Service ("MMS")) plays with respect to the timeline and permitting process in federal waters; and (iv) provide an overview of the items of concern to regulators with respect to renewable energy projects.
This is an appropriate program to continue the focus of the ABA-ACORE programs on developments that will make a difference for all of our futures. Counsel and anyone else who has an interest in the renewable energy industry will benefit from this presentation.
